Intel Launch Chipste for Low cost laptop

This year will be the year of the ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs). While Intel (chip maker) is putting its strength behind its Atom (low-cost processors) which is specifically made for ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs), now HP and Dell are also planning to launch ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs) this year.
Asus which already has launched its 7-inch Eee-PC, and will also launch its 8.9-inch version ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs) with extra features, while HCL with Microsoft is announced the launching of its new Mi Leap laptops.
Dell also plans to launch its ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs) which is 8.9-inch laptop made for less than Rs 19,960/-. HP is also planning to launch its Mini Note PC, which is mainly to target at the educational segment, and the starting price would be around $ 499.
Asus, has sold over one million ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs) i.e. Eee-PCs since its launch last year, and launched its ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs) in Indian market early this year with two modal i.e. 7-inch, and price tag is around Rs 14,000/- and Rs 18,000/-.
Francis Kao (Asus India product manager), he said, is selling thousand laptops per month and looking for the collaboration with schools and colleges to promote the ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs).
HCL and Microsoft also launched its Mi-Leap range of ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs) powered by Windows XP Mi-Leap for just Rs 16,990/-. HCL is also offering its Linux based version with the price tag Rs 13,990/- onwards.
Prakash Bagri (Intel’s OEM business director) said the price may go down in future and it may cost around Rs 14,000/-. Intel will launch its microprocessors Atom in June that are exclusively designed for ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs). Intel expects that the many ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs) entering in the market will be powered by the Intel Atom microprocessors.

HCL low cost Laptop

Microsoft and India’s HCL would introduce Windows OS based laptops and that will be the cheapest modal available worldwide.
The ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs), called the Mi Leap H Series, and will on run Windows XP Home Edition Operating System and will cost nearly Rs.17,000/- , that is about $425. The ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs) Mi Leap H features a hard drive of 30 GB and more with broadband connectivity.
Kevin Turner (Microsoft chief operating officer), in Mumbai at a launch event, said it is meant to “allow the Indian consumers and their businesses with the best and the latest technology has to put forward.”
Microsoft, and some other big vendors, is eyeing on the ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs) market as a foremost growth opportunity, particularly in rising markets like INDIA and China. Microsoft announced that the ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs) would extend the life of Windows XP OS.
ULPC (Ultra low-cost PCs) that run on Linux is launched by from Asus in INDIA, They also said that soon they would establish jointly a new Center of Excellence, staffed with 500+ programmers who develop Microsoft based solutions in the India.
According to Nasscom about 43% in 2008 IT services will grow in INDIA.

Dell Laptop Inspiron

Dell is launching new range of Inspiron notebooks which is more similar to the previous design but their thickness is between 1.0-1.5 inches, the screen size is between 14 inches to 17 inches (depend on the model). The main features are Core 2Duo 2.16 GHz, card-reader, 3G connectivity and a slot for loading Blue-ray drive. The side hinges of the notebook look as like the XPS 1330 range and 1530.
Dell is the biggest mid range laptops manufacturer in the world and provides cheap and affordable solutions.
Anne Camden (Dell spokeswoman) said that customers will be able to place order for Penryn (Intel latest processor technology) based Inspiron series 71420, 1525 and 1720 in the few weeks. She also told that in XPS M1330 Dell is adding Penryn and soon they offer Penryn processors to their XPS laptops model.
When the Penryn (Intel latest processor technology) were released in November, analysts were note that they probable that the Penryn (Intel latest processor technology) would give laptops and desktops a major performance improvement.

Sony recall 73000 Laptop

Good news for the Sony’s competitors, Sony is recalling nearly 73,000 Sony Vaio TZ laptops because of a manufacturing defect that cause the laptop to overheat.

The problem is with wiring of the laptop near the laptop’s center, which could cause short circuit due to over heating in some circumstances.

The affected models of the Sony Vaio series are the VGN TZ 100, VGN TZ 200, VGN TZ 300 and VGN TZ 2000 , even though not all Sony Vaio laptops in these series are affected. Sony suggests its laptop users to contact the Sony to see whether their laptop are defected, and if so then stop using the laptop immediately.

The over heating of the laptop could be caused due to misplaced of wiring which are present near the hinge.

In year 2006, Sony recalled millions of batteries because they presented a fire hazard, causing many laptops to burst.

In May this year, Dell also recalled nearly 1 million laptops because of a risk of shot circuit which may cause fire or electric shock.

New Software For Dell Laptop

Now the Dell will preload some software on its latest range of laptop that software can only be used when you are online. The pre installed software by Dell comes from Box.net in Palo Alto and the software is used only for saving and managing documents online. Box.net was founded in by two students in 2005, Aaron Levie and Dylan Smith. Box.net is also offered by some other small software companies with online services.
